Anuja Mendiratta (she/her), principal and founder of Philanthropic + Nonprofit Consulting, works on a range of critical environmental, gender justice, human rights, racial and social justice, and cross-movement issues.
Anuja clarifies focus, fosters relationships, builds capacity, strengthens movements, supports groups and leverages resources to create impact. For the past 13 years, Anuja has worked as a Senior Philanthropic Advisor to the Race, Gender and Human Rights Fund, which support efforts that challenge the criminal justice system and mass incarceration in California. She co-founded the California Criminal Justice Funders Group, is a member of the Green Leadership Trust and a steering committee member of the Health and Environmental Funders Network. She is honored to be a new board member of the Center for Whole Communities. Anuja has an undergraduate degree in environmental sciences from Antioch College and a master’s in environmental studies from York University. She is the daughter of Punjabi immigrants and a Midwesterner from the flatlands of Ohio, who currently resides in Berkeley, California on Ohlone territory. Anuja loves being outdoors and is an occasional poet, a gardener, and a walker of this beautiful earth.
